Why not Visakhapatnam and somewhere else?

The YSRCP government has reportedly asked many of its branch offices to vacate their rental offices, and move into government offices, wherever there is space. The government is also said to have given specific instructions, saying that this shifting is to be done only within the districts of Krishna and Guntur.

The Arogyasri office has already been shifted to the APIIC office, and other sectors are in search of suitable offices for their department. Earlier, the HODs of various departments had been to Visakhapatnam and zeroed in on the suitable offices for their department, when the AP government was saying that the executive capital would very soon be shifted to Visakhapatnam.

The government’s plans to shift the executive capital to Visakhapatnam has always been met with some sort of hurdles. Cases on the shifting of the capital are still pending in the AP HC, due to which the government is not in a position to do anything about it. Previously, when things were in favor of the AP government, the government scorned the way the previous TDP government offices were all run from rented buildings and said that spending so much money on rent was futile.

However, the YSRCP government continued to stay in rented buildings, thinking that it would very soon shift its base to Visakhapatnam. With the shifting of the capital not seeming to be any time soon, the government is said to have asked for the shifting of offices to government buildings in Krishna and Guntur districts. On the other hand, people belonging to these offices are raising concerns saying that it’s not a very easy task to shift buildings from one place to another and that at least 2 months of time is needed.
