With 151 assembly and 22 Lok Sabha seats in hand, YSRCP has witnessed a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh elections. TDP had to adjust with 23 assembly and 3 Lok Sabha seats, thus implying that AP people are no more in a mood to encourage Naidu’s party in the state.
In the last five years, there were several instances, where Naidu was able to manage entire Telugu news media. Except Sakshi, which obviously backs Jagan Mohan Reddy, all other channels acted as saviors of Naidu.
Though he constantly changed his opinions on the special category status, the media channels tried their best to convince the public, by supporting Naidu. All the channels have covered TDP’s every political activity in the last five years, and ignored covering the campaigns of other opposition parties. Especially, it completely ignored Janasena, covering none of his political activities and instead tried to mud-sling on the oppositions with cooked up stories.
Aggrieved over such activities, Jagan even restricted entry to a few of the channels, from attending his press meets. Now, as YSRCP has won the elections with a thumping majority, it should be seen how the Telugu media tries to manage the situation, unwilling to face risks from the government.
