“We cannot interfere in SEC decisions,” says Supreme court

The Supreme court has ruled on the Andhra Pradesh local body elections. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government. He said there was no objection to holding elections from March 1. He explained that the vaccination of frontline workers will be completed by January 28.

The Supreme court has made it clear that the state government should work in coordination with the State Election Commission. The Supreme Court stated that they could not interfere in the SEC decisions and refused to postpone the election. The state government has challenged the High court verdict in the Supreme Court. A bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Hrishikesh Roy, which heard the case, delivered the latest verdict.
