Chandrayaan 2, that aimed at a historical victory unfortunately lost its contact with the space agency. ISRO Chief Sivan broke down into tears, announcing the same this morning.
The contact was lost just few minutes before the moon lander Vikram was due to touch down near the Lunar south pole. India lost the opportunity of becoming the fourth nation after the US, Russia and China, to soft land on the moon.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who flew to Bengaluru, to watch the historical event, consoled the ISRO Chief, hugging him and patting on the back, after realizing that the mission was not successful.
He also addressed a meeting with the ISRO scientists, in which she spoke, “In our glorious history, we have faced moments that may have slowed us but they have never crushed our spirit. We have bounced back again and gone on to do spectacular things. This is why our civilization stands tall.”
The PM Modi further added, “As important as the final result is the journey and the effort. I can proudly say that the effort was worth it and so was the journey. Our team worked hard, travelled far and those teachings will always remain with us. The learnings from today will make us stronger and better.”
