Succeeding the orders of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, authorities of police sealed the premises of LG Polymers India Private Limited at RR Venkatapuram on Monday. Styrene leakage from the plant killed 12 lives. In an untowardly incident more than 500 individuals were hospitalized with different diseases.
The court had undertaken suo moto notice of the styrene leak and informed two petitions filed against the owners. The AP High Court had commanded the state government to seal the premises of LG Polymers in Vizag city and not permit the owners of the organization to step out of the nation, without the court’s consent.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) GS Rani said they had restricted the primary entryway of the plant and some police work force are guarding the premises to forestall any conceivable unexpected occurrences.
It was made clear that no one except the teams hired to investigate are permitted to enter the factory. The ordinance states that fixed and variable assets cannot be moved without their mandate. With the direction of the High Court, the district administration seized the plant. In fact, within hours of the incident, the government announced that owners of the LG polymers were negligent, which resulted in the death of many people.
Following the gas leak incident, over 13,000 tonnes of styrene monomer accumulated by LG Polymers at the plant and Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) in Vizag city, was evacuated and shipped out to south Korea. The opposition party TDP lashed out for allowing such incident and questioned how one could ship after making criminal offence and demanded to probe the case. If LG Polymers industry is proven guilty, they will be liable to pay Rs. 300 crore as compensation.
