The political parties and various organisations in Andhra Pradesh have been protesting against the move to privatise the Vizag Steel Plant in Visakhapatnam. The workers of the steel plant, traders and many people across the state are stretching their support and fighting against the Centre over this issue.
Tollywood actor Vishnu Manchu, who went to Visakhapatnam for his film promotion, has faced the heat of the protests today. As per reports, the protesters blocked Vishnu and pressed him to support the steel plant movement.
It should be mentioned that the Vizag Steel Plant is the country’s first shore-based integrated steel plant that was commissioned in 1992.
It provides direct employment to over 20,000 people, and indirect employment to another 30,000 people. It has spurred an additional industry ecosystem that gives employment to thousands of more people.
