Virat Kohli becomes fastest to reach 23000 runs

Team India captain Virat Kohli crossed a rare milestone in international cricket in the first innings of the fourth Test against England as part of a five-Test series.

Kohli, the run machine who moved Anderson’s last ball to the boundary in the 18th over, became the first batsman in international cricket to complete the fastest 23,000 runs. The record was previously held by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar reached the mark in 522 innings, while Kohli crossed the milestone in 440 matches at an average of 55.28 in 490 innings. He scored 70 centuries and 116 half-centuries.

Former Aussie Captain Ricky Ponting needed 544 innings to complete the feat, while former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis reached the milestone in 551 innings. They were followed by Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (568 innings), The Wall Rahul Dravid (576) and former Sri Lanka captain Jayawardene (645) respectively.
