Describing village and ward volunteers as warriors and praising their services whenever possible, AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy received an unexpected shock during the panchayat elections.
On Monday, volunteers from many areas across the state has hit the road and staged a protest against the government demanding higher wages and job security. They also demanded to be given clarity on their working hours.
Volunteers were angry that the salary given to the ration truck drivers is even three times more than what the government is paying them. They demanded that Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy respond immediately and resolve their issues.
Meanwhile, volunteers from Tadipatri, Anantapur district handed over a petition to the commissioner seeking an increase of pay to Rs 12,000 and job security for them. They expressed that the government does not care about them even they heroically discharged their duties during the pandemic times and actively taking government schemes to people’s doorsteps.
