Vijayawada’s Ramesh Babu files for anticipatory bail

The incident at Swarna Palace in Vijayawada shocked everyone and turned out to be a huge tragedy, with 10 people losing their lives. Swarna Palace was rented by Ramesh Hospitals, and was turned into a Coronavirus treatment facility.

Due to a short circuit at the hospital, the entire building caught fire, and several people were injured because of it, and others died. Thorough investigation is being done on this issue, and the Police department is investigating everyone involved in the matter.

However, Pothineni Ramesh Babu, the managing director of Ramesh Hospitals has absconded ever since the incident took place. He has been sending audio bytes to the media, and has been asserting that he has nothing to do with the accident. If he really has nothing to do with the incident, then why is he shying away from appearing before the POlice for investigation?

Ramesh Babu has now filed for an anticipatory bail in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, and is looking forward to results of the same. It is interesting to see that Ramesh Babu has filed for an anticipatory bail when he is repeatedly asserting that he is innocent. If he really is innocent, then what’s the need for an anticipatory bail?

The Police department has formed a team of 8 officers for the investigation of this case especially, and is currently in the search for Mutthavarapu Srinivas Rao, the owner of Swarna Palace. Even he has been missing ever since the incident took place.

The Police Department has sent notices to Ramesh Babu and Srinivas Rao under Section 160 of the CRPC directing them to appear before the investigating officer (IO). The Collector of Krishna District also cancelled the licence of Ramesh Hospitals, so that they won’t admit anymore Coronavirus patients.

Following actor Ram Pothineni’s comments on the incident on social media, Vijayawada ACP Suryachandra Rao said that he would be sent a notice on the issue as well, under Section 90 of CRPC. This issue is being taken very seriously by the Police Deparment of Vijayawada, and they have said that they are not going to let anyone lose so easily.

Additionally, notices have also been served to Dr Mamatha Rayapati, daughter-in-law of former Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, and nine others, including family members of the absconding, to get to the bottom of this case.
