Vaccine should be taken 9 months after recovering from corona: NTAGI

The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), a government panel, has recommended that people who recovered from corona can be vaccinated nine months after recovering from the virus. This panel, which had earlier suggested duration of six months, has now increased it to nine months. The panel sent the latest proposals to the Union govt. It seems likely that the Union Health Ministry will take a decision on this in a day or two.

According to the current protocol of the Central Department of Health, people who recovered from corona can take the vaccine only after 4-8 weeks after recovery. NTAGI explained, “If the vaccine is given after nine months, it will help the body to produce more antibodies.”
