Vijay Deverakonda, popularly known as the ‘Rowdy star’, earlier featured in the film ‘Khushi’, with Samantha as the lead actress. Directed by Siva Nirvana, the film was released on September 1, 2023, to moderate reception.
Following ‘Khushi’, Vijay collaborated again with director Parashuram for ‘The Family Star’, after their previous success with ‘Geetha Govindam’.
Mrunal Thakur joined the cast as the female lead, with Gopi Sundar providing the soundtrack. Despite high expectations, the movie, which premiered on April 5 as an Ugadi festival offering, fell flat at the box office and received huge criticism for its lack lusture content.
It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. However, the film has become the subject of social media trolling, even after its OTT release. The audience are bashing the movie for particularly a scene where Vijay Deverakonda confronts Ravi Babu.
Additionally, a scene at the beginning of the movie has sparked debate among netizens, who question the portrayal of a middle-class family making dosas very thin. Also, the routine story proceedings in America too draw intense criticism. Many opined that the movie felt like a tv daily serial.
Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda is set to appear in his 12th film, directed by Gautham Tinnanuri, known for his work on ‘Jersey’.
