The Tirupati by-elections have become a matter of prestige issue for all political parties in Andhra Pradesh. The BJP is trying to rise in AP, while the TDP is once again looking to strengthen its hold on the state. The ruling YSRCP party is firmly determined to not let Tirupati slip away from its hands.
The Tirupati Lok Sabha seat opened up after the sudden and unfortunate passing of its MP Balli Durga Prasad Rao. The YSRCP is considering Rao’s son Kalyana Chakravarty, or Rao’s wife, as the potential candidates to contest in the upcoming by-elections. On the other hand, the TDP has announced the candidature of former Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi for these elections.
Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a sudden meeting for all of the members of the party, including all ministers, at Amaravati today, to discuss the upcoming by-elections. Based on the way this meeting has been held so suddenly, it can be assessed that the YSRCP wants to make sure that the people are on their side at any cost.
The opposition parties are rallying against the ruling party, highlighting its failures and shortcomings against Muslim Minorities, Dalits, BCs and other sections of society, in the Tirupati constituency.
Several sources have revealed that the opposition parties are also making plans to win the Tirupati Lok Sabha seat by any possible means, to checkmate the YSRCP, which has been getting its way ever since its win in the general elections last year.
