Ram Gopal Varma is really facing it tough with Lakshmi’s NTR. When the maverick director tried to release the film before the elections in Andhra Pradesh, he could do it in the rest of the parts of the world, but not in Andhra Pradesh, as TDP insiders tried vigorously in stopping the film’s release.
The election commission has stopped its release, saying that it would violate the election code. While many felt that the film would take its release at least after the elections, several forces are still strictly going against it, even after the elections.
After several delays, RGV recently announced that he would release Lakshmi’s NTR on May 1st. But the EC went against such announcement, opining that the election code is still prevailing in the state and the film’s release cannot be permitted.
Ignoring it, three theaters in Kadapa district have screened the morning show of the film on May 1st.Knowing this, while the local revenue officials let off the theaters with a warning, the state Chief Electoral Officer, Gopal Krishna Dwivedi has asked the EC to take action against the Joint Collector of Kadapa district, for failing to stop the screening of the film. It was then the Joint Collector Koteswar Rao seized the three theatres.
