It is no secret that Telangana has a lot of liquor shops, and that the consumption of alcohol is also very high in the state, when compared to other states in the Southern part of India. This has now been highlighted in the sale of beer in the state, with Telangana topping the charts and emerging as the beer capital of South India.
The state topped with 11 liters annual per capita consumption, closely followed by other states. This is a complete contrast to the 4.43 liters per capita consumption that was recorded in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh. The sale of beers in Telangana for the month of July has also been more than IMFL.
The pre-pandemic sale of beers has also been high in the state, with Telangana having sold 3,912 Lakh litres of beer in the year, followed by Tamil Nadu, which sold 2,526 lakh litres, then Karantaka with 2,373 lakh litres, then Andhra Pradesh with 2,186 lakh litres, and finally Kerala, with 955 lakh litres.
