Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took the decision to name the newly constructed Secretariat building in Hyderabad after Dr. BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution. He even issued instructions to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar regarding the same, to take action in this regard.
This announcement came two days after KCR demanded that the new parliament building be named after Ambedkar, to honor his memory. He went on to say that Telangana is setting an example in the country, by naming the secretariat after the great leader. He also noted that it was because of the inclusion of Article 3 in the constitution by Ambedkar that Telangana could be formed as a separate state.
KCR also said that Telangana is following the constitutional spirit set forth by Ambedkar, by promoting and encouraging every caste in the state with equal opportunities, and without discrimination towards any one of them, not even based on gender. KCR even said that he intends to write a letter to PM Modi, demanding that the Parliament be named after Ambedkar.
