Telangana reports 749 deaths per day, highest in GHMC

The death toll in the state of Telangana has risen sharply in the last two years. In May this year, 23,242 people died. According to statistics, it implies that an average of 749 people died every day. The death toll increased from 1,22,102 in 2019, to 1,54,992 in 2020. On the other hand, as of May 2021, 76,024 deaths have been reported in Telangana.

The details regarding the death toll came into the limelight after examining the details being registered for death certificates in cities, municipalities and villages across the state.

According to the reports, 10,858 certifications were issued in GHMC in May. It implies an average of 350 deaths per day. The death toll has been higher since June last year. On average, more than 6,200 death certificates are issued per month under the GHMC.
