Telangana pays a deaf ear to Krishna Board

The Telangana government has been paying a deaf ear to the letter that Krishna Board sent it a few days ago, about using the water in Srisailam Project for the production of electricity.

Usually, it is a common practice to use water for the production of electricity after the reservoir/dam is filled with water. However, this year, the Telangana government doesn’t seem to care if the reservoir is full or half, it only seems to care about producing electricity, as a result of which it is draining all the water from the Srisailam Project.

Even after Krishna Board wrote a letter to the government of Telangana about this issue, the government didn’t stop draining the water, and it didn’t even care to respond. The government of Andhra Pradesh has been writing letters to the Krishna Board about the same issue, since Rayalaseema has not gotten a single drop of water from Srisailam Project this year.

Last year, the Srisailam Project got a lot of water, courtesy to the full blown rains in August, as a result of which it was able to supply Seema with water. Since this year the rains have not been so full-fledged yet, and also because the Telangana government is draining more than half of the water, Seema hasn’t gotten a drop yet.

If the Telangana government doesn’t stop using up all the water at least now, it would be a huge loss for Rayalaseema, which may have to fall victim to drought this year, due to the acute shortage of water.
