The Telangana High Court on Thursday directed the Director-General of Police to take immediate steps to block online loan applications. The instant financing apps have created a sensation across the country after many borrowers ended their lives.
The issue has once again made it to the headlines after the High Court heard a petition on the issue and issued key directions to the DGP Mudireddy Mahendar Reddy.
The HC said to contact Playstore to remove apps to this extent. Explained that strict measures should be taken to clamp down on the managers of loan apps. The bench headed by CJ, which was hearing the petition filed by advocate Kalyan Dilip Sunkara, issued directions to this effect.
The petitioner explained to the High Court that hundreds of victims were committing suicide due to Chinese loan-lending apps. The HC directed the DGP to submit a report on this. The commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda have also been asked to file reports on these cases. The Court adjourned the hearing to March 18.
