Pharma major Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has a fixed price for DRDO’s 2DG anti-COVID-19 drug that each sachet will cost at Rs 990. However, the drug will be given by government hospitals at a discounted price.
The manufacturer on Thursday launched the second batch of 2-DG. In the second instalment, Dr Reddy’s Lab released 10,000 sachets of 2DG drug on May 27.
According to Dr Reddy’s Labs, the drug will be commercially launched in mid-June. The mass production is expected to start in the first week of June.
For the unversed, the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) approved the drug for emergency use as an adjunct therapy in moderate-to-severe Coronavirus patients. It has been developed by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a leading laboratory of the DRDO, in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL) in Hyderabad.
