The Covid-19 vaccination drive, which started in India on January 16, is expected to ramp up in the coming months. The Centre has revealed that over 20 Crore doses of the vaccine have been administered after about 130 days since the vaccination drive commenced.
Union minister Prakash Javadekar said on Friday all Indians will be vaccinated against the Covid-19 by the end of this year.
This statement by Prakash Javadekar came hours after Rahul Gandhi claimed that only 3 percent of India’s population is inoculated against Covid.
Speaking at a press conference, Javadekar said, “Last week, the health ministry made it clear that within December the country will produce 216 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines. This means that at least 108 crore people will be able to get vaccinated. So, Rahul Gandhi should understand that India will vaccinate all by December 2021.”
India reported 1,86,364 fresh coronavirus infections and 3,660 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The caseload has now pushed to 27,555,457, while the death toll stands at 318,895.
