Women drinking liquor in our country is being considered as a Taboo when compared to the western countries. Finally, India has stepped up to break the shackles. Till now ladies were seen consuming alcohol in only pubs but no female has been seen in front of a liquor shop or a bar.
The Madhya Pradesh government has taken a bold decision by establishing the women-friendly alcohol shops in their state. Reportedly, these liquor shops will sell wine and whiskey of brands that are popular among female alcohol consumers. The government will set two shops in Bhopal and Indore, and one each in Jabalpur and Gwalior.
MP’s State excise commissioner Rajesh Bahuguna told PTI, “Under the new liquor policy, a limited number of outlets selling high-end premium liquor, formulated and bottled abroad, would be allowed to open in some big cities.”
The outlets are soon to be opened in upmarket areas of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior. The government led by the Kamal Nath Govind took this decision to uplift the spirit of the women.
