Set back for Jagan by ICMR over the usage of rapid testing kits

The Indian Council for Medical Research has directed all state governments not to conduct the COVID-19 confirmatory tests using the Chinese rapid testing kits as there were allegations that these equipment produce faulty results.

Before a few days, some states along with Andhra Pradesh have imported rapid testing kits in large numbers to filter the COVID-19 positives from the healthy people. Jagan’s government imported 1 lakh rapid testing kits from South Korea and they need to stop the usage of these kits.

Earlier today, the health minister of Rajasthan said the kits gave only 5.4 percent accurate results against the expectation of 90 percent accuracy and therefore the kits were of no benefit. Now, the research team will conduct random testing for the COVID-19 positives using rapid testing kits to determine its reliability.

After all, this is a set back for Jagan’s government as they have tested thousands of people using these kits in the past three days which went in vain. Now, they need to test the same suspects with the methods and kits that are directed by the ICMR for more accurate results which will take a lot of time.
