The second drive of administering the Coronavirus vaccine to frontline workers has begun in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Healthcare and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) are currently being given the second dose of the vaccine, at the same place that their first dose was given to them.
Indian vaccines ‘Covishield’ and ‘Covaxin’ are being used in Andhra Pradesh, and speaking about the drive, Health Commissioner Katamneni Bhaskar said that the vaccine is being administered to the frontline workers as a matter of priority, as they are the people who have been battling the virus since day one, against their own lives.
It has been 28 days since the first dose of the vaccine has been administered, and the second dose started to roll out on Saturday. A total of 19,108 workers have been identified, who are eligible for the second dose of the vaccine.
Bhaskar said that all the frontline workers have to be done with being administered the first dose of the vaccine by the 25th of February, after which they would not be given the first dose.
Other department workers are expected to get the first dose of the vaccine by March 5th.
