The Andhra Pradesh government, currently led by the YSRCP, has become infamous for a lot of things, and after the government has not been getting any sort of cooperation from the Judiciary, the government started to deal totally differently with things. One of these is the Weekend Plan that the government has come up with, whenever it wants to arrest someone who opposes them.
When a person is arrested over the weekend, with no court operating on a weekend, the person will have to wait for 48 hours to be given bail, making the person stay in the Police station until then. This causes a lot of problems for the person in question.
Now, the SEC of Andhra Pradesh, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, has given the YSRCP government a taste of their own medicine. Following the SEC’s meeting with the Chief Secretary of AP, Nimmagadda dropped a huge bomb. The CS met with the SEC and conveyed that the AP government is not ready to go ahead with the local body elections any time soon.
Everyone thought that the SEC would again approach the High Court, but the SEC released a notification during the weekend, announcing the schedule of the local body elections. This took the government by a total surprise, and now the government has to wait until Monday to apply for stay orders.
