Sebastian PC 524 Review: Tests yours patience

Kiran Abbavaram of SR Kalyaanamandapam fame is back with a film titled, Sebastian P.C. 524. Being directed by Balaji Sayyapureddy, the film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it goes.

Story:

Set in the backdrop of Madanapalli in Rayalaseema, the film revolves around a murder mystery of a young lady Neelima( Komalee Prasad) that happens when Sebastian ( Kiran Abbavaram), a constable with night blindness defect is on night duty in the police station. Who is the main head behind the death of Neelima? How will Sebastian crack the mystery behind Neelima’s murder, forms the crucial crux of the film.

On-screen Performances:

Kiran Abbavaram is decent in the low-grade cop avatar and gave a convincing performance as a guy with night blindness disorder. Though his character with night blindness defect is not established properly, the young actor tried to bring life to the entire film with his screen presence.

Noted actress Komalee Prasad gets a crucial role as most of the film runs her character-centric. Though she appears in a couple of scenes, Komalee impresses with her acting. Senior actress Rohin did a decent job in her cameo role as the hero’s mother.

Senior actor Suriya, young girl Nuveksha, a new face who played the role of Teja are okay in their prominent roles. Adarsh Balakrishna, upcoming actor Ravi Teja and Srikanth Iyengar are fine in their supporting roles.

Off-screen talents:

The cinematography work by Raj K Nalli is good as he presented the night effect shots nicely by using appropriate lighting and camera frames. Editing by Viplav Nyshadam lacks sharpness.

Music by Ghibran is loud and noisy. In fact, the film or any of the proceedings has no scope for a solid background score. Coming to songs, all of them are audible on the screen.

As most of the film is canned at natural locations in and around Madanapalli town, there is nothing, in particular, to mention about the production design. Production values for this tight-budget movie are adequate.

Coming to the director part, Balaji Sayyapureddy’s core idea of interlinking the murder mystery with the night blindness disorder of a constable is good but his execution is filled with cliches throughout. If he would have written the screenplay version in a racy manner, things would have worked for the film.

Verdict: In an overview, Sebastian is a crime coated serious drama that lacks a solid presentation and convincing scenes. Except for Kiran Abbavaram’s acting, the film has nothing special to satisfy the audience.
