Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting fell seriously ill while doing commentary during the first Test between Australia and West Indies. He was immediately rushed to a Perth hospital.
According to reports, Ponting was rushed to the hospital around lunch on the third day of the first Test and could not continue his commentary in the next session.
The former captain of Australia is said to have felt discomfort and went to the hospital as a precautionary measure to check on his heart.
“Ricky Ponting is unwell and will not be providing commentary for the remainder of today’s coverage,” a Channel 7 spokesperson said.
The 47-year-old has played 168 Tests, and 375 ODIs with scoring 13,378 runs in the longest format of the game, while he had 13,704 runs on his name in limited overs cricket. He smashed 41 hundreds and 62 half-centuries in Tests and 30 hundreds and 82 fifties in ODIs.
