The forest department officials have shocked a real estate firm in Hyderabad after they cut down hundreds of trees at Bomraspeta in Keesara Mandal, Medchal a few days ago.
As per reports, Vasavi Green Leaf Ventures had cut down hundreds of trees in their private land, getting no permission from the forest department.
After receiving a complaint, Medchal District Forest Officer Venkateswarlu ordered a probe into the incident and found that they did not get any permission to cut down the trees in large number.
After filing a case under VOLTA Act, the forest officials slapped a Rs 20 lakh penalty on a real estate firm and also made them plant trees in a big way.
As per Forest department officials, it is mandatory to obtain permission from the department to cut down the trees even in case of private lands.
