Of late, due to the early release of films on OTT platforms, there has been a slight rise in the percentage of the audience, who skip movies in theatres and watch them on OTT. This practice by the audience is ultimately pushing its makers into losses. Therefore, the Telugu film producer council has taken a necessary decision on such movies.
In a recent meeting held among the Tollywood producers, it was decided that the upcoming theatrical outings will not arrive on OTT anytime soon.
As per the new theatrical window rule in the Telugu film industry, all the upcoming top six star heroes’ movies should have at least 8 weeks’ theatrical window, while all other upcoming movies, irrespective of the budget should have at least 6 weeks theatrical window.
By bringing this new mandate, the filmmakers think this is the only way to lure back the audiences to the big screens and make them watch movies in theaters.
