Parakala Prabhakar, who was the advisor to the former Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu during his regime has quit the television channel Maha news. This Politician-turned-political commentator had been the chairman of the channel for nearly two years. Reportedly, the channel was taken over by former Union minister and BJP MP Sujana Chowdary.’
Though Parakala is a person with vast knowledge and a thorough professional, he failed to increase the viewership of the Maha News Channel. Over the past few months, this channel failed to pay the monthly salaries to their employees and to make things worse, the COVID pandemic hit this media house and it has plunged into further crisis, forcing the employees to strike work and approach the labor commissioner.
However, as all Media houses have been running in huge losses, there was pressure on the labor commissioner not to support the employees on the grounds. Amidst all this ruckus, Parakala has no option but to step down from the chairman post of the not-so-poplar news channel.
Through an open letter, Parakala had regretted moving out of the channel. He thanked all the employees for cooperating with him despite facing tremendous financial constraints. He also thanked the news employees for bearing with the management during this crisis period and appreciated the persons who had been supporting the employees by giving them loans.
Eventually, Parakala Prabhakara bid goodbye to the Maha news expressing hope that the new management would resolve all the pending issues much sooner.
