Raising prices of Onions is a hot topic in India. Looks like, it is the hot topic in the neighboring nations as well. India is one of the large exporter of Onions and Bangladesh imports Onions from India. As the Onion prices are on peaks, Indian government decided to ban the exports to major extent.
The export of Onions from India fell by 10.7% in the last 6 months. Speaking on this aspect in the India – Bangladesh business forum in New Delhi, Bangladesh’s prime minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned that India should have told Bangladesh before implementing the ban on Onions export.
Sheikh Hasina further made people laugh in the business forum saying that they are now ordering the cooks in their country to make dishes which doesn’t need Onions. Mentioning the intensity of the Onions export ban, Bangladesh’s prime minister stated that the country fell in a tough situation and if India could have warned them before, they could have looked into other alternative Onion import solutions.
