One more scam unearthed in AP!

The Andhra Pradesh government has been tackling one scam after the other, and one financial crisis after the other. Almost every month, a new crisis is being named in the state. First, it was the ‘fake challans’ scam in the stamps and registration department in September, where Rs. 13 Crores was subjected to the scam.

Later on, it was the ‘CM Relief Fund’ scam, in September itself, where Crores of rupees was subjected to the scam, with the submission of fake medical bills and claiming funds under CMRF. Now, yet another scam has been unearthed in AP, with rice millers having submitted fake bank guarantees to AP civil supplies corporation.

Rice millers have to submit bank guarantees for milling rice for the public distribution system (PDS) so that the civil supplies corporation supplies thousands of tonnes of paddy to each mill for milling. The millers have to produce rice and return it to the AP civil supplies corporation. The millers have to submit bank guarantees to the corporation as a security deposit for taking these paddy stocks from the government for milling. If millers fail to return rice stocks, the government utilises bank guarantees to cover up its losses. The officials of civil supplies corporations and rice millers have colluded and submitted fake bank guarantees to the government. They forged the signature of bank officials and corporation officials on fake bank guarantees and submitted them to the government. The AP government is now looking into this.
