The Telangana High Court had ordered the state government to impose restrictions in the coming days, in view of the New Year, due to the spreading of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. The HC ordered the government to impose certain restrictions in the state, to curb the spread of the virus, on December 23rd, and the government officially announced that restrictions have been put in place today.
The restrictions extend from today to January 2nd. These include, for the most part, the prohibition of large gatherings at any one place in the state. While permissions for certain events have been given, IR thermometers/ thermal scanners have been made compulsory at all those events. Strict social distancing is also to be implemented, and no person without a mask is allowed to enter either.
On the other hand, Rs. 1000 is the fee for anyone who doesn’t wear a mask in public. Several other Indian states have also imposed restrictions, to curb the spread of the virus. As several countries are already facing the third wave, India is making sure it doesn’t have to come to that.
