An MP in Bangladesh has hired eight lookalikes to attend the exams in her place and got expelled from the university after getting caught.
Tamanna Nusrat, leader of the ruling party Awami League, is accused of paying the people, to attend 13 of her exams. The issue came to light, after a local TV entered the test hall and confronted one of the women posing as an MP.
Nusrat was pursuing Bachelor of Arts degree with the Bangladesh Open University (BOU). She was elected to Parliament last year. Reacting to the issue, the university chief said, “We expelled her because she has committed a crime. A crime is a crime. We have cancelled her enrollment. She will never be able to get admitted here again.”

Another official of the University said, “The proxy students were protected by the MP’s musclemen when they sat for the tests. Everybody knew it, but nobody uttered a word because she is from a very influential family.”
Meanwhile, Nusrat had been avoiding the media and university, when they tried to approach her for the comment on the entire issue. As Nusrat is a ruling party leader, the state government has been facing a backlash from the netizens. Even the party leaders are deeply disturbed by her act and may consider reducing her significance in the party soon.
