Megastar extends solid support to Visakha Steel Plant movement

Megastar Chiranjeevi has come forward, extending his solid support towards the Visakha Steel Plant movement, being carried out by hundreds of people, who are trying to save the plant from being privatised.

Chiranjeevi stated that he still remembers the movement that was carried out during the days he was studying at Narasapuram’s YNM College.

He said that he still remembers how people were rallying behind the steel plant, with the slogans “Visakha Ukka, Andhrula Hakku” (Visakha Steel is the right of every Andhra person). He said that many people gave their lives for the steel plant, and that those sacrifices will not go in vain, and that those sacrifices will not be forgotten.

He said that every single person belonging to Andhra felt the proudest when the steel plant came to Visakhapatnam, and the prominence it had in the country made every Telugu person very proud of their heritage.

Chiranjeevi criticised the way that no captive mines were allotted for the steel plant, and how the Center is now planning to privatise the institution because it is not yielding profits anymore. He said that it is better for the Center to take a backstep regarding the privatisation of the plant, considering that there are many lives dependant on the plant, directly and indirectly, and how these lives would drastically be affected because of the privatisation of the plant.

Furthermore, Chiranjeevi said that it is now everyone’s responsibility to save the plant from being privatised and that this issue goes beyond any politics, rivalries and parties. He said that everyone has to band together if the plant is to be saved.

With Megastar Chiranjeevi himself coming forward and supporting the non-privatisation of the steel plant, everyone is now interested in seeing who else from Tollywood would come forward to support the movement.
