Manchu lakshmi says no to english medium!

English medium education in government schools has become a hot topic in the recent times. In both the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the administraton’s idea is to convert public schools into English medium schools. This has been put forth by government to bring equality among rich and poor with a motto to provide high class education to all classes without bias. But opposition parties are downright condemning such move including private schools and few political leaders.

Manchu Lakshmi who is the heiress of manchu legacy, runs Srividyaniketan school in Tirupathi. In the latest ‘Lock Up with Manu Lakshmi’ show, speaking on the ongoing issue she said, “I am totally against the English medium in public schools. I don’t like the idea of introducing English as a medium of instruction in all public schools”, which implies the probable damage that could occur to private schools chain system despite being profecient in English. She went to say that the private schools’ management has certain standards and has been able to provide online classes to students in the tough times but felt dubious about the students who go to the government schools.

She indirectly hinted the staff and teachers are much qualified in private schools than that of government schools and made an insulting remark whether the teachers would even be able to teach English to the students as she felt that they are unfit or less superior than the teachers from the privatised school. Manchu Lakshmi’s opinion was rather obviously biased as it sprung out of fear that there would be a downfall in private english medium schools, if governemnt schools begin with english medium solely.
