The YSRCP government, headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, came to power in 2019 and has completed half of its term this year. A lot of factors contributed to the government not functioning very smoothly, mostly the coronavirus pandemic, and the controversial three capital issue. While the YSRCP continues to enjoy good popularity among the people of the state, it is dwindling.
The government doesn’t pose a major threat from any of its opposition parties, given that they are yet to get their act together. However, the major threat to the YSRCP remains to be itself, and the plethora of schemes that it has put in place and implements for the people of the state. So far, the government has somehow managed to get in the money required to implement these schemes, but with the kind of financial crisis that the government is currently in, the implementation of these schemes is expected to get rocky in 2022.
It is also expected that there will be cabinet reshuffling in 2022, with Jagan being said to be intent on replacing some ministers in the cabinet. Political analysts say that things could go very bad for the government if it doesn’t manage its finances well enough in 2022. It is now to be seen what will happen.
