Maharashtra government announces night curfew

The second wave of coronavirus is scaring the people of the nation currently, and the situation is especially grave in the state of Maharashtra and Punjab. The central government has also acknowledged this fact. The Maharashtra government has now put into effect a night curfew, which will be effective from tomorrow, Monday, the 5th of April. The night curfew is from 8 PM in the night to 7 AM the next morning.

Several precautionary measures have already been put in place all over Maharashtra, but now, the government has imposed a lockdown throughout the state. During the day time, not more than a group of 5 people is to be seen standing together. Every online delivery services have been permitted only until sunset. Apart from that, the government has also decided that there would be a total lockdown for three days, starting on Friday – 9th April, and ending on Monday – 12th April.

Government offices will be run with 50% staff, and private organisation employees have been asked to work from home. Buses and trains have been given permission to run with only 50% capacity and hotels, malls, restaurants and bars will be completely closed during the curfew. The Maharashtra government is expected to announce complete guidelines very soon.

The government has allowed construction and industrial activities to continue, and new guidelines will be put in place to control the crowd in vegetable markets. Theatres will also be closed, but the government has allowed for film shootings to take place with a small crew size. On weekends, every service will be closed, except emergency services.
