Anushka Shetty’s silent thriller Nishabdam was scheduled for release on April 2nd in multiple languages Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and English. However due to lock down the film was postponed indefinitely. Few days after the lock down there was news that Nishabdam will be releasing in OTT but there was no update since then.
However according to the close sources the latest info about the movie is that digital rights of the movie were sold to a fancy price. Apparently Amazon Prime has bought the movie for a lucrative price of Rs. 26 Cr. This deal is for all languages. Makers are happy with the price as they have sold the movie to table profits. Nishabdam will be the first big Telugu film which is going to release directly through OTT.
However it is Amrutha Ramam which made the first move. There is news that it will take atleast 2-3 more months for theaters to reopen. So producers who have already lost a lot are looking for alternatives. OTT platforms are seizing the opportunity.
