Local elections cause BJP-Jana Sena’s Rath Yatra to be postponed

The BJP and Jana Sena planned to march from Kapila Theertham (at the foot of Tirumala hills) to Ramatheertham, in protest to the atrocities taking place against the Hindu religion and Hindu Gods in the state of Andhra Pradesh, and in recognition of the AP government’s lack of action towards the atrocities, thereof.

This rally, named ‘Rath Yatra’, was supposed to take place from February 4th. However, the rally has now been postponed, and BJP AP president, Somu Veerraju has issued a press statement of the same. He said that the reason for this is the local elections that have been scheduled to take place at the same time in the state.

Somu Veerraju said that the revised schedule of the rally would be announced as soon as the elections came to an end. Whether a new schedule would be released on or not, in reality, is something that has to be seen. Previously too, in 2020, the BJP and Jana Sena planned to conduct a rally from Guntur to Amaravati, to support Amaravati as the sole capital of AP. This rally too, was postponed back then, and never happened ever since.

What now remains to be the biggest question is if Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan is aware of the postponing of the rally or not, as he was previously not aware of it, in the case of the Amaravati rally. If the Rath Yatra took place as per schedule, then it would have consolidated and even strengthened the relationship between BJP and Jana Sena, which would have been really great for both the parties. Keeping in mind that CM Jagan recently met with Amit Shah, with respect to the atrocities against Hindu religion, in Delhi, many are saying that Somu Veerraju must have gotten instructions from the center to postpone the rally.

If the elections are indeed the true reason for the postponing of the rally, then that’s great. If there’s another reason though, then Pawan Kalyan has once again been neglected by the BJP.
