Krishna tribunal comes into the game now… What’s next?

The Chief Ministers of both Telugu States Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are friends but they have their differences in the water sharing policies. Both these states are the loggerheads when it comes to water and it is known that Telangana government has raised objections over the AP government’s new irrigation projects connecting the Srisailam dam.

As a response, the TG government lodged a complaint at the Krishna River Board Tribunal. Then the tribunal met the other day to discuss the complaint lodged by the Telangana irrigation department secretary against the AP government.

Later, Tribunal board member Meena had written to the AP government. In this letter, Meena asked the opinion of the AP government on Telangana’s objections. The tribunal board made it clear that before coming up with the technical aspects of initiating a project, the respective governments need to take permission from river boards, apex council and take into consideration the availability of water.

But the AP government, who are very confident in their irrigation schemes wants to counter the Krishna Tribunal. Jagan’s government’s version is – as both Godavari and Krishna River Boards have not responded on the objections raised over Telangana projects, on what basis they can involve now?

AP CM Jagan is said to have informed AP irrigation officials to be in wait and watch mode on how the tribunal will take up the issue. We all know the stubbornness of Jagan Mohan Reddy and it seems like he is not going to leave this matter without giving a fight.
