During the Telangana movement, before Telangana state was announced, KCR made a statement, a promise, that he hasn’t fulfilled to date. He said that a Dalit would be made the CM for the separate state of Telangana, and even said that he should be beheaded if that didn’t take place.
Now, this statement has come into the limelight, thanks to India Today’s special article on KCR, in their latest magazine. KCR promised to make a Dalit the CM of Telangana, but he never specified when. During his first term, a Dalit was the Deputy CM, but during the second term, that wasn’t the case. As per the latest developments, it is highly likely that KTR would be the next CM after KCR, with the latter even announcing that he plans to retire by the age of 70.
Having said that, with there being no clarity over when, and if a Dalit would ever become the CM, the BRS party members are said to be in a panic mode, because no one wants their forgotten promises to be at the forefront of any political discussions, especially not when the elections are so close by. Let’s see what the BRS will do now.
