Kaleshwaram: Jagan gets invitation, Naidu gets chance

Telangana Chief Minister KCR has invited Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for the inaugural ceremony of Kaleshwaram project, which is scheduled to happen on the 21st of this month.

Several times in the past, when Jagan was an opposition leader, he opposed Kaleshwaram project, terming it as illegal. Regarding this, in 2016, when KCR laid foundation for the project, the YSRCP Chief has also undertaken “Jala Deeksha” for three days in Kurnool.

Jagan alleged that the TS CM took up the project, without proper approvals. He alleged that the Kaleshwaram project will worsen the situation in several districts in AP, as the project blocks Godavari water from entering into AP downstream.

The YSRCP Chief also went against the then AP CM Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly not opposing Kaleshwaram due to fear of ‘cash for vote’ case against him in Telangana. He alleged that Naidu had compromised on AP’s interests for his personal gains.

Now, after Jagan formed his government in AP, he has been maintaining some good relations with Telangana CM. As a friendly gesture, he also did hand over the government buildings and bungalows in Hyderabad to the TS government.

At this point of time, if at all Jagan accepts KCR’s invitation and attends the launching ceremony of Kaleshwaram, then it would surely invite the criticisms from the TDP, who has been waiting for one such opportunity.

On the other side, if Jagan skips attending the ceremony, it may damage the existing bond with KCR, which also may lead to several disturbances later. So it should be seen, how the young CM manages to handle the situation.
