Jagan govt received backlash from SC in Panchayat elections petition

The petition filed by the AP government in the Supreme Court seeking suspension of the conduct of local body elections in Andhra Pradesh is ambiguous.

The Supreme court informed the government that there are numerous mistakes in the SLP filed by them and asked the government to file a fresh petition.

The court found no time today for an emergency hearing as time was running out.

With that, the AP government plans to file a House Motion petition in the Supreme Court in the wake of the release of the notification for holding local body elections on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the AP government has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court seeking a stay of the High Court’s order to hold local elections.

The government mentioned in the petition that it was seeking an urgent inquiry. However, with the end of court time today, the AP government is in a quandary.
