Jagan 2.5 years formula to go wrong?

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came up with a new initiative which is to restrict ministers tenure to 2.5 years, unlike the regular 5 years.

Intending to give a chance to more people in being part of the government, Jagan has come up with an initiative of this sort. He already inducted 25 ministers into his cabinet, among which five were made the Deputy Chief Ministers and the oath taking ceremony of all of such ministers and deputy CMs has been conducted yesterday.

Jagan selected the candidates, in such manner that every community gets preference in his cabinet. Shockingly, higher percentage of ministers have been inducted from the BCs, while Jagan’s own community ‘Reddies’ was anticipated to take the cake. Jagan’s decision was lauded on the social media big time, but what everyone is confused with, is the trimming of the ministers tenure to 2.5 years.

No doubt, a state Chief Minister has every right to decide on the tenure of the ministers. But only with the intention of giving a chance to other candidates in the party, is it fair to decide the tenure of the minister, who is supposed to work for the people, is a question now?

One cannot ignore the fact that the AP elections are the costliest in the country. The political leaders are ready to spend Rs. 50 crores on a constituency and at a point of time, few leaders opened up directly that even Rs. 150 crores have been spent in a single constituency. At this point of time, Jagan who promised to make a corrupt-free ruling, introducing an initiative like 2.5 years tenure to the ministers, is shocking many.

While Jagan’s intention was to give a chance to everyone, the netizens are questioning that about what kind of ‘chance’ he is talking about? It may not be fair to question the new government in such a short time, but one cannot ignore the confused situations, the state government is showcasing.

Only to please all the leaders who worked for the party, it may not be a wise decision on the part of state government to reduce the tenure of the ministers to 2.5 years. It should be seen, how the latest decision will put Jagan and his government into trouble, in the coming days.
