Ishq Movie Review: A Poorly-made Remake

Ishq, starring Teja Sajja and Priya Prakash Varrier in the lead roles released in theaters today. The film is a remake of a Malayalam love drama with the same title. Scroll on to read our review of the film.

Story: Ishq is a tale of two young lovers, played by Teja and Priya who fall in trouble following a fateful incident. They are forced to undergo mental trauma by a menacing scoundrel. What is the incident that kickoff this troublesome situation? What happens later?

What about on-screen performances?

Teja and Priya share good chemistry. Teja gets an author-backed role and he comes with a decent performance. Priya has very limited screen time but she impresses with her settled performance. Ravindra plays antagonist and he could have done a better job.

What about off-screen talents?

The director S Raju doesn’t change the set-up or the backdrop for the remake. The film stays true to the original and there aren’t any noticeable changes to the story or the screenplay. Those who have watched the original will feel that the remake is a bore-fest. The Anandama song is pleasing to the ear. The background score is satisfactory. The cinematography is good.
