India records highest single-day spike of 1.45 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases

In a shocking development, India‘s Covid-19 tally jumped to 1,32,05,926 on Saturday with the highest single-day spike of 1.45 lakh fresh corona virus cases.

With the addition of 1,45,384 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the number of active cases has crossed the 10-lakh mark again after around six-and-a-half months.

Apart from registering a record in single day cases, India also reported 794 deaths taking the total death toll in the country to 1,68,436.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries has reached 1,19,90,859 while the number of active cases now stands at 10,46,631. On the positive side, 77,567 discharges have also been reported in the past 24 hours.

This is the fifth time since the inception of the pandemic in 2020 that India’s 24-hour tally crossed the 1 lakh mark. On the other hand, a total of 9,80,75,160 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered till now across the country.
