With each passing day, the Covid-19 cases in India are setting a record of daily Covid cases. In yet another shocking development, India has reported 1,31,968 infections in the last 24 hours, pushing the total case count to over 1.3 Cr.
This is the fourth time in five days when the country reported over one lakh fresh cases. The virus has killed 780 people in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,67,64 in India.
With this fresh surge, the total number of infections has reached 1,30,60,542. Currently, there are 9,79,608 active cases in the country. On the other hand, 61,899 people recovered from Covid yesterday alone. So far, 1,19,13,292 people have recovered. The recovery rate has dropped to 91.67 per cent.
Nearly half of the cases and deaths in India are reported from Maharashtra. In the last 24 hours, over 56,000 cases were registered and 376 deaths were reported here. It is worth mentioning that India is the third worst-hit country after the United States and Brazil.
