An incredible journey of Mahesh Babu, the Super Star!

Mahesh Babu, who started his career as a son of the Super Star Krishna, managed to attain a separate craze for himself, within a short time. For the kind of achievements he secured, he is not just a Tollywood star, but a Pan-India star now.

Initial days

Mahesh Babu has started his career in films with a small role in Needa movie, in which Mahesh’s elder brother Ramesh Babu is the lead. He later was picked for a brother’s role opposite his father Krishna, in a movie titled “Poratam”. He was identified well for his performance in Shankharavam film, which was directed by Krishna. He even played a dual role in Koduku Diddina Kaapuram, in which his father was the lead. But in 1990, Mahesh gave up acting in the child rolesand was away from the industry to concentrate on the studies.

Comeback as hero

Mahesh Babu later made his debut as a hero with Rajakumarudu in 1990 and was able to attain decent success with the film. He later had to face debacles with Yuvaraju and Vamshi. It was during the shooting of Vamshi, he fell in love with the heroine Namratha Shirodkar and also married years later.

Turning point

Mahesh’s life took a major turning point with Murari in 2001. The Krishna Vamsi’s directorial was a massive hit in those days. With the enthusiasm, Murari gave, Mahesh picked up Takkari Donga and Bobby, with which he had to face a huge shock.

It was then Gunasekhar entered into the life of Mahesh and the fate of the Super Star has been changed forever. Okkadu movie hit the screens in 2003 and registered as the biggest hit in the Super Star’s career. Adding to it, the film brought a huge stardom to Mahesh and made him to enter the top league of the Tollywood heroes.

Troubles with Star image

The impact of Okkadu was so huge on Mahesh that the audiences were no more in a mood to accept an average content from him. This troubled Mahesh for the good amount of time, as the star failed to meet the huge expectations of the fans, due to which he had to face terrible failures in the form of Nijam, Nani and Arjun.

Mahesh then took a long gap and was seriously keen to bag a massive hit, so that his stardom remains the same. It was then, he picked Athadu and was able to score a huge success with the film.

Pokiri – Major milestone

Overjoyed with the success of Athadu, Mahesh then understood the format of success and started picking the scripts, keeping his fans in mind. Director Puri Jagannadh, then tapped the doors of Mahesh, with Pokiri. While Okkadu helped Mahesh to enter the top league of Tollywood heroes, Pokiri was the reason for him to compete for the top chair along with Pawan Kalyan on the other side.

Mahesh’s dialogue delivery, mass performance, comedy timing and all put together, made Pokiri, not only a feast for Mahesh fans, but also one of the biggest blockbusters of the Telugu Film Industry. Several other makers tried to repeat Pokiri kind of scripts and even heroes tried to follow his mannerisms. But its Mahesh alone, who was able to set a mark.

Pokiri impact

While Okkadu’s success troubled Mahesh for a few years, Pokiri’s success bothered even more. The makers found it extremely tough to meet the expectations of the Super Star fans, due to which the Pokiri star had to face back to back debacles later, in the form of Sainukudu, Athidhi and Khaleja.

It was then, he changed his route of picking the scripts and opted a comedy film called Dookudu. The film gave a good boost to Mahesh with which he was able make a hat-trick with the successes of Businessman and Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu later. But the luck did not favor Mahesh for long, as he had to face another set of debacles in the form of 1 Nenokkadine with Sukumar and Aagadu with Sreenu Vaitla.

Koratala Siva reshaped Mahesh!

Later Koratala Siva came to the rescue of Mahesh by offering him two mega blockbusters Srimanthudu and Bharat Ane Nenu. Especially, Srimanthudu success brought a new side of Mahesh into the public. Just like the concept of the film, the Murari star adopted two villages and started developing it. He even spent money on the surgeries for about 100 children suffering from serious diseases.

With the boost SVSC gave, intending to gain the love of the family audience, Mahesh picked up Brahmothsavam, which remained as a nightmare in his career. Even Spyder, which was anticipated to become a huge success, bombed at the box office. Unwilling to take any more risks, he again believed in Koratala, who was able to give one more success to Mahesh in the form of Bharat Ane Nenu.

As BAN was highly appreciated for its message, Mahesh once again decided to come up with another message oriented film and thats how, Maharshi made it to the news. The film  discussed about the significance of the farming. As expected, Maharshi has been added to the list of the hit films of Mahesh Babu. The Super Star currently has Sarileru Neekevvaru, which is touted to be a comedy entertainer, on the lines of Dookudu.

Apart from producing and acting in the films, Mahesh also ventured into the business. While he recently launched AMB Cinemas in Hyderabad, for which he was one of the partners, he also stepped into the clothing business with the name “Humbl”.

While the entire TFI is touted to be in the hands of the families of Mega, Nandamuri and Akkineni heroes, Mahesh is the only star who is able to stand strong all alone.
