AP Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar said that local elections were successfully held in Andhra Pradesh and it was possible only with the support of the government. On the eve of his retirement on Thursday, he spoke to media in the State Election Commission office.
Elections were held successfully without repolling in any part of the state. He said that he canceled his vote in Telangana and appealed for a vote in his native village, but still, the vote appeal has been in pending with the Collector. He said that he would approach the court and fight for his right to vote in his hometown.
Nimmagadda said the Election Commission was a constitutional body and the Constitution conferred wide powers through 243K of the Constitution for the Election Commission. Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar thanked the media for their support in conducting the elections.
