The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has gotten the biggest shock ahead of the upcoming Nagarjuna Sagar by-polls. The families belonging to the martyrs of the Telangana movement have decided to file in 400 nominations, for the upcoming elections.
Raghurama Reddy, the leader of the Martyrs Forum spoke to the media and said that the families of the Martyrs have been neglected by the Telangana government, and by Chief Minister KCR, who promised to give 5 acres of land, Rs. 10 Lakhs financial assistance and a government job to every Martyrs’s family. Reddy said that not a single family has received any assistance from the CM till date, which has really disappointed all the families, turning out to be the reason for them wanting to file a nomination themselves. Reddy also said that they planned to file more than 400 nominations, but limited it to 400 due to financial constraints.
In the previous Parliamentary elections, Kalvakuntla Kavitha too faced a similar situation, when hundreds of Turmeric farmers filed nominations after Kavitha failed to get a Turmeric board for them. This ultimately resulted in her failure to win in the elections.
By Wednesday, 11 nominations have been filed, and the last date for filing nominations is March 30th, while the TRS and BJP parties are still searching for their candidates. Since March 27,28,29 have been declared as holidays, only March 25th and 30th are left for nominations.
On March 31st, the nominations will be scrutinized, and the polls will be held on April 17th. The results will be declared on May 2nd.
